Abstract
In this paper, the author analyzes the aspects of the encyclical Fides et Ratio that can be connected to key elements of the history of science. The words of Pope John Paul II reaffirm the significance that Christian doctrine has had, not only for knowledge in general but also for the origin and development of the exact sciences. From both an ethical and epistemological standpoint, the Polish pontiff demonstrates that faith in Christ does not contradict, but rather promotes, a correct approach to scientific knowledge.
